The "best selling pro hockey franchise" is back with the 2004 edition, and it's loaded with more.

Like Madden NFL 2004, NHL 2004 has a deep career mode, titled Dynasty Mode. You take on the role of GM for up to twenty seasons. As GM, you'll have to negotiate contracts, conduct drafts, make trades, sign free agents, make sure your players are getting the training they need, and more. If you're good enough, you may make it into the GM Hall of Fame.

Besides Dynasty mode, you've got the basic game modes; Season, Exhibition, and Playoffs.

The control for NHL 2004 has been refined, allowing for more precise movement than in the previous games. Precise passes, shots, and accurate skating are accomplished by simply tapping the button.

This year's edition features many different modes of gameplay for the NHL enthusiast. Players can start the game right away in play now mode, play an international game, play through a playoff series, or start a franchise. The franchise mode puts you in charge of a team for a 10-year legacy. You can either play every game during a season or simulate each game and take a manager role. After each season, you have the option to play around with the roster in anticipation of next season. You can draft new players, sign free agents, make trades with other teams, and retire old players. Statistics are kept throughout the life of a franchise in several categories.

Also new this year is the use of the right analog stick to execute manual dekes and slip the puck past the goalkeeper.

NHL 2002 is EA's latest incarnation of their NHL series.

New features over previous years includes the "Breakaway Cam", which causes the game to slow down, turn blue, and go into letterbox mode when you're one on one with the goalie, and "EA GameStory", which tracks your progress and rewards you for outstanding performance.

NHL 2002 is the first in the series to include NHL Cards, which is the equiviliant of Madden's NFL Cards. By performing special moves, such as scoring within the first 30 seconds or winning 10 face-offs, you get points, which you can then use to buy cards.

NHL 2002 includes all the professional NHL teams, as well as the International teams, such as Team Canada and U.S.A. Every stadium is included, and so is every player.

NHL 2002 has many game modes, including Season, Quick Play, Shootout, and Exhibition. It also has a "Create-A-Skater" mode.

Was kostet ein Flug habe ich mich heute gefragt. Jedes Wochenende schaue ich auf die Ergebnisse, die Liveticker, schaue mir die Pressekonferenzen nach den Spielen an und bekomme mein Lächeln nicht aus dem Gesicht.

Das spielt MEIN SERC gegen Teams wie München, Mannheim und Wolfsburg und gewinnt die Spiele. Und wenn man dann doch mal gegen München verliert wie das am Freitag geschehen ist, dann bekommt man Lob vom Gegner und die Spielweise des Gegners zeigt, dass es in Schwenningen nichts geschenkt gibt. The millennium installment in the NHL series brought as usual updated rosters, featuring for the first time the Atlanta Thrashers, plus enhanced graphics and sound.

The two main features of the game are the new Dynasty mode, allowing a player to lead a team to success for 10 straight seasons, while keeping an eye on the new talent on the yearly drafts and trading with other teams, and the face import feature, which gives the chance to assign each custom player their own face based on a photo. To do so, a photo must be placed in a folder, imported and then hotspots (head shape, eyes, nose and mouth) must be set, to define how the texture will be mapped into the face model.

Gameplay became a lot faster and tougher, and two new moves were included: "Big Hit", to flatten the oppositions' golden boy, and "Special Movement", to go around those tough defenders with ease. After the award-winning NHL 98, EA worked to improve what was considered to be one of the most complete ice hockey games in the market. Along the usual and almost obligatory NHL roster updates, the International mode first featured in the previous version was expanded, allowing players to choose IIHF rules and rink size.

Graphically, the arena is more detailed with more rinkside features, and ice reflections, player faces were improved and stand more seamlessly into the model, enhanced motion capture result in better animated hits (with the ability to break the glass with a well-placed body check making a return), shots and saves, and finally an higher polygon count complete the graphic enhancements to the game.

Es ist Anfang September 2017 und ich sitze hinter meinem PC und schau mir die Transfers der Wild Wings an.

Timonen, Rech, Bohac und wie sie alle heissen. Nochmal schnell auf diversen Internetseiten geschaut was die Herren so können und wo sie her kommen. Frankreich, die Eishockeymacht. NLB, DEL 2 und was man da nicht alles sieht.

Sollte es nicht besser werden in Schwenningen? Wollten wir nicht mal zumindest in die Pre Play Offs? Das kann man dann wohl auch schon im September wieder stecken und dankend ablehnen.

Es kommt der achte September und das Team gewinnt 2:1 in Iserlohn. Klasse, das erste Spiel gewonnen, das hatten wir doch schon oft. Jetzt geht es wieder Berg ab, denn den Pessimismus habe ich für mich gepachtet. Es folgen die Niederlagen gegen Mannheim und München. Kann man verlieren, denn die bösen Adler und Dosen haben ja Geld ohne Ende, wie will man da was reissen? Seit 1999 bin ich nun am AddOns für NHL erstellen. Das ganze hat recht gemütlich angefangen und ich habe hier und da mal was versucht und inzwischen sind die Dinge ganz brauchbar.

Leider hat sich aber auch etwas in der Community verändert. War man anfänglich noch dankbar, dass Leute etwas gemacht hatten muss man heute Akkordarbeit leisten und wehe man bringt nicht dauernd was neues raus. Jeder will alles und das sofort und natürlich umsonst. Wenn man Leute darauf hinweist, dass sie auch selber was machen können bekommt man zu hören "Keine Zeit", "Keine Ahnung wie das geht", "Ich habe die Programme nicht" oder mein Liebling "Dann halt nicht".

Ich weiss, wir leben in einer anderen Zeit und Leute können sich hinter Avataren oder Forennamen verstecken, aber das heisst doch nicht, dass man alles einfach so bekommt.

NHL 98 features much faster and refined gameplay (now using four action keys instead of two, removing the need to double-tap to perform some actions), along other new features such as "in-the-fly" tactics developed by Marc Crawford, then manager of the Colorado Avalanche and new commentary lines from Jim Hughson and Darryl Reaugh and a re-worked interface. Graphics are improved from the previous version with the players being less angular, and thanks to 3Dfx support, with less pixels showing in the textures. The in-game presentation follows a TV-style script, zooming in players while displaying stats during clock stoppages.


As far as game modes go, in the year of the first Olympic Tournament with professional players, NHL 98 introduced the first real international competition, with 18 International teams to choose from. Other game modes include Season (option to pick between 25 or 82 games) and Playoff (best of 1, 3, 5 or 7 matches) and a Penalty Shootout mode.
